Elegance at English Bay: A Fall Beach Photoshoot with Janelle

Exploring the Beauty of Cloudy Skies and Timeless Gowns in Vancouver's West End

Fall in Vancouver often brings its share of cloudy days, but for photographers, these overcast skies can create the most magical lighting. On a chilly autumn day, I headed to the stunning shores of English Bay in the West End for a photoshoot with Janelle, a model I’ve had the pleasure of working with before.

The beach was unusually quiet, offering us an abundance of creative opportunities without distractions. The soft, diffused light from the overcast sky added a beautiful glow to every shot, perfectly complementing Janelle's elegant gowns.

In some of the photos, I used a strobe light paired with a softbox to create beautifully diffused lighting that highlighted Janelle's face and added a beautiful touch to her gowns.

Janelle's confidence and experience in front of the camera made this session so rewarding. Her ability to connect with the environment and express emotion through her poses brought the vision for this shoot to life. We drew inspiration from the great Peter Lindbergh and his iconic beach portraits of the supermodels in the 90s.
